[EN] This paper is the result of various research and experiences about the role of folklore in the learning of Catalan. More specifically, we focus on exploring the improvised oral song as a social and cultural tool that allows to transmit knowledge and emotions in the current context of learning of Catalan language outside its linguistic domain (that is, Catalan as a foreign language, or CLE). Our study reflects on the possibility and importance of reinforcing cultural themes and practices in language classes. Among these cultural elements, we emphasize how the introduction of improvised oral poetry (or glosa) helps the development of linguistic, communicative, social skills and student motivations in a context of intercultural learning.
