Biography
Licensed and doctor in Catalan Philology and General Linguistics in the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB). Nowadays he is the chief of the Service of Catalan Education for the Government of the Balearic Islands and associated teacher of the UIB, where he teaches the subject "Popular Catalan Culture". He has written diverse pedagogic books: Amb paraules ben planeres, Una biblioteca dïadults, Elaboració del Projecte Lingüístic de Centre, DIC (method of language education for not Catalan speakers), as well as diverse text-books for the ESO and the Baccalaureate. Also he is the author of Lloret: imatges dáhir and De la figuera a la taula. Collaborator of diverse magazines specialized in cultural and pedagogic topics, he has taken part in congresses and international colloquia referred to the Catalan language and culture. He is a founding member of the Cultural Association Cannonge de Santa Cirga, association that tries to recover the art of the glosa in Majorca; moreover, this association takes charge organizing festivals in the Balearic Islands and in the Peninsula. Precisely, he is the coordinator in the Balearics of the European project of improvised poetry that undertakes the islands of the Mediterranean sea and the Atlantic Ocean. He has given courses about improvisation in the schools of the Islands and has written the Manual del bon glosador, where he describes the skills needed to master the art of the "glosa". He is also the director of the collection El Bufador which is related to popular and traditional culture. In 2002, the Association DEFESTA has granted the Siurell de Plata to him for his dedication to the recovery and dignifying of the popular culture.
