- He graduated in Philosophy and Journalism and was awarded a doctorate in Audiovisual Communication and Publicity in 1999 for his thesis Gaur egungo bertsolarien baliabide poetiko-erretorikoak (The poetic-rethorical resources of the modern bertsolaris). His profesional activity within bertsolaritza started with a radio programme in Euskadi Irratia (1983-1988) and later on, asked by the Bertsozale Elkartea, became the creator, director and presenter of a television programme shown on Euskal Telebista called Hitzetik Hortzera (1988-1993). He has also been the president of the Basque Writerïs Association (1993-1997). He has been on the jury of various championships and has developed an important role as a critic through various articles and essays. Together with Jon Sarasua and Andoni Egaña he published the book The art of bertsolaritza. Improvised basque verse singing (2001) He is author of stories and poems and has received a number of awards. Currently he is a lecturer on Publicity at the University of the Basque Country and a member of a team which is currently working on a method to incorporate orality in schools.
